Network of European Museum Organisations

NEMO Declaration:

NEMO is an independent network providing representation and information for the museum community of Europe. The network is made up of museum organisations within the countries of the European Union (EU) as well as representatives from the countries associated with the EU.

WHAT DOES NEMO DO?

  • Provides information to museums on relevant EU initiatives and other issues of importance
  • Lobbies European institutions, particularly the EU, on all issues relevant to museums
  • Promotes to European policy makers the role and importance of museums
  • Encourages the exchange of information between museums and museum organisations throughout Europe
  •

HOW DOES NEMO WORK?

NEMO has an informal structure. NEMO has received an operating grant from the European Union. All the other expenses are paid for by the museum organisations that are members.  NEMO has three main ways of communicating with members: a newsletter, a website and an annual meeting with representatives from each country.

Contact: http://www.ne-mo.org/

NEMO also has a very good links page with links to many important European institutions: http://www.ne-mo.org/links.html
